A Multi Discipline Research Enterprise.

Our Research is Targeted To help VLSI Designers to Speed up the Design Process by Synergize between Advanced Internet Approaches like UX and BI, with Current EDA Tools Flows.

Challenge Description in Glance

The Chips manufactured these days are known not only by their “Cool” Features, but by their design Complexities.

During the design stage, the VLSI designers are challenged by large amount of Data.

This Data needed to be processed efficiently and addressed into good technical and practical decisions and acts.

There are some human psychological and physiological limitations that preventing efficient handling big amount of information.

EDA tools helps the designers to get results based on the pre defined characteristics.

These are mostly to achieve requested Functionality optimized for: (lowest) Power (highest) Performance & (minimal) Area restrictions.

When the Human Machine interaction is not efficient, due to “Too Much Information” phenomena, we should efficiently expose the user only to the Mandatory Data.

The user could dig later for more details if needed.

This is the point where UX and BI can help.

What is UX?

UX stands for User Experience.

It is a relatively new multi discipline method, includes the practical, experiential, affective, meaningful and valuable aspects of human–computer interaction and product ownership.

By put the User in the Focus, it highlights the person’s perceptions of system aspects such as utility, ease of use and efficiency during the use of a particular product, system or service.

What is BI?

BI stands for Business Intelligence.

BI is a name for set of techniques and tools for the transformation of Multi Sources - Raw Data into Meaningful and Useful information for business analysis purposes.

It allows decision makers to get easy interpretation of large volumes of data into Meaningful Picture.

This “Intelligent” Picture which could be driven by more than singular set of data, should be: Simple to Create, On the Fly, based on Up to Date Data

How UX and BI might Help?

Lets try to use 2 Examples to explain :

  • Imagine that: Your complex design has a design failure, which could be detected only by a cross-check between 3 sets of data on different databases. And your EDA tool efficiently pays your attention for that very quickly.

  • Imagine that: You could create Up to Date - Progress Reporting to management, without interrupting any of the design team.

Furthermore, this could be one of benefits of combining those technologies together.
